It is my pleasure to invite you to Interep's 8th Power of Urban Radio Symposium, when we bring the event back to my hometown of Chicago.

This year's subtitle, "I Want My Urban Radio! Can Mainstream Media Effectively Target the African America Market?" explores an important issue for today's multicultural marketers. How do Africa-Americans use media and what is their relationship with Urban media as opposed to general market media options.

As always, we will bring together the top marketers, representatives from the leading Urban agencies, and other thought-leaders in the field of multicultural marketing. This year, we are honored that Chesley Maddox-Dorsey, President and COO/Access.1 Communications, Darryl Brown, Executive Vice President and General Manager/ABC Radio Networks, and Jay Williams, President/American Urban Radio Networks, have agreed to co-chair our event. They bring with them a vast amount urban radio experience and knowledge, and I am delighted that they are lending their expertise to this year's symposium.

As a marketer in today's diverse society, you can not overestimate the power of the multicultural consumer. Throughout the symposium, we will seek to answer one major question: What is the most powerful way to connect to the increasingly important Urban audience? Our guest speakers and panelists from some of the largest advertisers and agencies in the country will share their multicultural marketing strategies.
